Edward J Roller Having discovered this great band mid 90's , I was thrilled that almost all of thier music is available on BC now as not to pay import prices for the discs. Just have to wonder why more people haven't heard of them. I find Dyatly one of thier finest , as the originality of the band sure comes through along with an unrelenting groove as the description above really tells the story. You cannot define this band in any genre, so go ahead and check it out. Did I mention the bassoon?

about

When this album was recorded, the idea was to stay as close as possible to the original livesound, based on
intuitive spontaneity and to minimize studio gimmickry, overdubbing, etc. Several live studio sessions
were used as the base and then only the final vocals and some extra percussion tracks were added. All the
rest is the result of mixing-board wizardry.
Whatever the category, OLE LUKKOYE play music that is captivating and exotic, incorporating hybrid sounds from
Russia, Siberia and East Asia. Aside from the Russian vocals, the band uses mesmerizing shamanistic and Siberian
vocal styles. They have a clear bias towards ethno flavoured songs with a tribal percussion background. And at this
they blend ancient and modern elements to something very unique. Album DYATLY offers great variety styles
included here which is simply amazing..psych/space. dub, trance, shamanism, native indian chanting successfully
mixed together as if this is the easiest thing in the world.
The music on DYATLY is very ritualistic and ethno cross culture world beat sound that contains space, folk,
eastern, jungle and ambient, Shaman, and even electronic tribal in the vein of Dead Can Dance ,Suns Of Arqa and
Korai Orom. Among the five musicians, they play over twenty instruments, so the abundance of textures and varied
sound is there. Exotic sounds, keyboard layers and vocals chanted in a shamanic manner, they blend of folk-
inspired space rock is of a kind that sound have a broad appeal, with fans of acts such as Ozric Tentacles a like a
likely key audience.
