SKY CRIES MARY RELEASES 15TH ALBUM “EVERYTHING GOES SOMEWHERE ” on TRAIL RECORDS
“Everything goes somewhere," sings Roderick Wolgamott on Side One of the evocative, enveloping new album by Sky Cries Mary. This legendary Seattle band will soon release their 15th album in a history of recorded and live performances spanning 35 years. This is also the 4th studio album Sky Cries Mary has released on Trail Records boutique label focused exclusively on the world psychedelic genre.
Record collectors and art aficionados will recognize and delight in cover art by Scottish painter Fergus Hall, whose work has also been featured on King Crimson albums. A vinyl pressing is expected in early September of 2023.
Electronic drums, layered with acoustic drumming, ambient sound, lyric poetry, soaring vocals, and soulful grooves combine to create something harkening both the Sky Cries Mary of a previous era and a future Sky Cries Mary that you haven’t heard yet.
Founding members Bennett Ireland and Roderick Wolgamott team up with Grammy winning producer, Jack Endino to produce something entirely new.
Alternately languorous and longing, dulcet and dissonant, ethereal and infernal, the music of Sky Cries Mary quite simply defies description. Even while all the stylistic touchstones are evident--vintage psychedelia, ambient, progressive space rock and cinematic word play, the resulting mix can't be quantified.
It's this creating outside the Grunge world that has brought fans to the concert halls. One critic said "Sky Cries Mary are old souls, it's in their eyes, it's in their music...they are as comfortable on Earth as on the astral plane, it's a dream you don't want to end."
A dream, a prayer, a trip, Sky Cries Mary is the sound of six people breathing as one.
